WHAT IS STARTING POINT?
Starting point is just that... it's the place where everyone begins at New Vision Community Church. It is the foundational course for membership, leadership, and discipleship.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Starting Point is a 13 week conversational small group environment where people can explore faith and experience community.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Seekers - those who are investigating God, Jesus, the Bible, or Christianity.
Starters - those who have just begun a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Returners - those who have some church experience, but have been away for a while.
Believers - those who have been in a growing relationship with Christ for some time
HOW DO I JOIN STARTING POINT?
Starting Point orientations are offered on the first and third Sundays of each month. At the orientation, you will hear all about Starting Point, be able to ask questions, have an opportunity to sign up for a group, and find out where to purchase your materials. There is no commitment when you come to the orientation, just show up to find out more.
Because the orientation is fairly short (20 minutes), we don't provide child care.
WHAT DOES STARTING POINT COVER?
Starting Point is a 13-week study. The theme is God's passionate pursuit of a prodigal people. The lesson topics are as follows:

WHAT MATERIALS WILL I RECEIVE?
1. GROUP MEMBER GUIDE: 138-page full-color guide divided into 13 lessons covering foundational information on the Bible and God's passionate pursuit of His prodigal people through nine key characters.
2. CD SET: 14 audio messages by Andy Stanley and Sean Seay on 6 CDs that correspond with each lesson in the curriculum. Listening is optional.
3. MEMORY VERSE CARDS: 13 memory verses that correspond to the key verse in each Starting Point lesson (included in the CD set). Memorization is optional.
4. TIMELINE BOOKMARK: This helpful bookmark displays the timeline used in the Starting Point curriculum.
5. TYNDALE LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE (NIV): This best-selling study Bible contains many excellent study helps for those just getting started as well as seasoned leaders. Page numbers from this Bible are included in group member guides each time scripture is referenced.
THE COST:
Group members who join Starting Point at New Vision pay $30 for all of their materials. Because the actual cost is greater, we offset the difference from our budget.
THE GROUP:
Each Starting Point group includes 14-16 group members, of which 2-4 are leaders. From time to time we offer a group that meets on a weeknight in someone's home. However, most groups meet at our church on Sunday morning at the same time as one of our worship services. This provides the benefit of childcare during the group meeting. It also removes any barriers for people who may be tentative in joining a group.
WHICH GROUP DO I CHOOSE?
Most Starting Point groups have a variety of people from age and season of life. We don't make any distinctions between age, gender, or marital status when providing group options. Those interested can sign up for any group time we have available.
